|  |  Marketing and Tech Tip-Winter Newsletter February 23, 2009 Technical Tip: Merging Duplicate Records in Goldmine Look at both records and see which one is updating with Sales information. This is the record you will want to KEEP. Pull up a search window where you can see both records. Hold down control and click on the Record you want to keep first. Then hold control and click on the next one. This tags the records. All records you have tagged will be highlighted (again - do the one you want to keep first) Go to Tools, Data Management, merge/purge records, Merged tagged records. You will get a warning - okay to that and done to finish - it will merge the records together. Marketing Tip: Email and the use of graphics: The proper way to handle graphics in email is to link them using HTML code. By linking the graphics you are able to keep the file size down on your emails so you are not using more of your or your customers band width then necessary. Basically, when you send your graphics embedded in the mail you are sending the customer the actual graphic along with the email. Instead if you host the graphics on a web server and link to the graphics with HTML code, the graphics will be downloaded for viewing when the message is opened.
